Objectives of the Course

Planning science instruction activities in an environment consist of learners with diverse cultural characteristics, determining how differences among learner are considered in science programmes, analysing science curriculum and classroom activities within multicultural perspective, and acquiring information and awareness about multicultural science education practices.

Course Content

Concept of culture, The effect of culture on science education, Cultural awareness, Religions and their reflections on science education, Gender and science education, Multiculturality and multicultural education, Theories of melting pot and salad bowl, Cultural richness of Turkey and its reflections on science education, cultural sensitivity, Multicultural properties in teacher proficiencies.
