Political Parties still continue to be one of the most important bridges between citizen and the politics. The main objective of this module is to provide an advanced learning and experience to those students about party and party activism that is being neglected so far in the country. We will be focusing on the emerge and development of political parties in the western Europe as well as in Turkey from early 19th century up to end of 20th century. By ding so it is aimed to study parties’ present conditions and their members.
Political participation and political parties; Political parties and ideologies in industrial societies; Party system and changes in the functions of political parties in post-industrial societies; Political party membership and activism; Activism in 21st century.
| 1. | Grasp the key debate, concepts associated with political parties and party activism; |
| 2. | Recognize and interpret the broader theoretical issues associated with political parties and party activism; |
| 3. | Examine and able to connect the main debate about party activism with the mainstream sociological; |
