Objectives of the Course

In this course, it will be discussed how important developments in the digital world, that is, the transformations on the digital basis that societies experience, have led to a great transformation in terms of states, economic systems, societies and people, and what kind of new socialities they have created. At the end of this course, students gain information about the content of new socialities in the digital world. To enable students to focus on the digital society and new socialities, and to encourage them to think about their reflections.

Course Content

New socialities emerging in an increasingly digitalized world constitute an important subject of sociology. Therefore, this course focuses on the new socialities created by technology and digitalized living conditions, which have started to play a more role in our lives as a part of daily life. What kind of new socialities do digital tools create? How do these tools affect our social interactions?

1.Understanding the main concepts and discussions about digital society and digital social networks
2.To be able to define and understand the basic debates and theories about the concepts of digital society and digital social networks in the modern and postmodern era.
3.To have an advanced level of knowledge in digital society and digital social networks and to be able to relate it to current social theory.
4.To be able to comprehend the changing nature and change dynamics of the phenomena and concepts studied from the modern era to the postmodern revolution.
5.To improve the ability to demonstrate a critical and objective approach in analyzing concepts of digital society and digital social networks.
