The aim of this course is to examine contemporary forms in which explicit / overt discriminatory attitudes have evolved. In this way, it aims to have information about disadvantaged groups in the social structure and to raise awareness about these problems. Again, it is aimed to develop a sociological perspective about disadvantaged groups in society. In this direction, studies will be conducted to explain new forms of all kinds of discrimination based on a large literature. At the end of this course, it is thought that students will be able to design empirical research to examine discriminatory attitudes and behaviors based on often implicit or implicit race, culture or other types of characteristics that may occur during cultural interactions or encounters in many areas of daily life.
There are strong indications that the nature of discrimination has changed in the modern world. Historically, although there has been a decline in old fashioned or direct, overt discrimination, there are also increasing opinions and concerns that traditional discriminatory attitudes continue to change form and increase.
