Objectives of the Course

“Surveillance” and “Privacy” are topics under discussion today and are not just a discussion topic specific to the digital society. But surveillance and privacy; With the development of technological tools and the increase in digitalization, it has come to the fore even more. The main aim of this course will be to examine the effects of digitalization in the context of surveillance and privacy. In the context of analyzing today's social conditions, it is necessary to examine the effects of the digital communication age on surveillance and privacy. Starting from this point, our course aims to focus on the effects of digitalization within the framework of surveillance and privacy.

Course Content

Topics such as Digital Society, digital communication age, socio-cultural effects of digitalization, digitalization and socio-cultural change, digitalization and surveillance, digitalization and privacy discussions will be examined.

1.Comprehension of concepts such as Digital Society, digital communication age, socio-cultural effects of digitalization, digitalization and socio-cultural change, digitalization and surveillance, digitalization and privacy, and current academic debates.
2.To be able to evaluate the discussions on the effects of digitalization within the framework of surveillance and privacy.
3.Acquiring the ability to conduct sociological research on the Digital Society, the age of digital communication, socio-cultural effects of digitalization, digitalization and socio-cultural change, digitalization and surveillance, digitalization and privacy discussions.
4.To be able to comprehend the dynamics of change of digitalization on surveillance and privacy.
5.A critical evaluation of the discussions within the framework of Digital Society, digital communication age, socio-cultural effects of digitalization, digitalization and socio-cultural change, digitalization and surveillance, digitalization and privacy.
