Objectives of the Course

To develop a philosophical understanding of arguments developed by contemporary currents in art such as impressionism, formalism, expressionism, surrealism, cubism, futurism and constructivism. Traditional theories of art are criticised from the perspective of contemporary thinkers.

Course Content

Philosophical ideas underlying contemporary currents in art are discussed in the context of aesthetic experience, aesthetic attitude and judgement of taste.
