Objectives of the Course

To explain the characteristics of the sound knowledge of Middle Turkic, sound events, sound changes; structure knowledge, syntax and vocabulary

Course Content

Historical Development of Turkic The place of Middle Turkish in the historical periods of Turkic To have knowledge about the sound, shape and structural features of Middle Turkic

1.To be able to understand the concept of Middle Turkish from historical and grammatical aspects
2.To have voice, shape and text knowledge of Karakhanid Turkish
3.To have voice, shape and text knowledge of Khwarezm-Kipchak Turkish
4. to be able to recognize the vocabulary of the historical Turkish Vernaculars and understand the comparisons and contrasts of this vocabulary with present modern Turkish vernaculars
5. to be able to understand the relations of historical Turkish vernaculars, and the effects of Indian, Chinese and Iranian languages on these vernaculars
