Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to provide students with fundamental knowledge of cattle production by introducing cattle and buffalo production systems, breeds, nutrition, reproduction, housing, herd management and animal welfare practices. The course also aims to develop students' theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for planning, evaluating and managing sustainable, efficient and economically viable cattle production enterprises.

Course Content

This course covers the fundamental principles of cattle production, including the importance of cattle and buffalo farming, major breeds, production systems, nutrition, reproduction, housing, herd management, animal welfare and biosecurity practices. It also includes dairy and beef cattle management, calf rearing, production recording systems, digital herd management technologies and sustainable cattle production approaches through both theoretical and practical applications.
