The objective of this course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills to understand the importance and current status of sheep and goat breeding in the world and in Türkiye, to recognize sheep and goat breeds, and to gain proficiency in breeding, improvement, management, and nutrition to obtain economical and high-quality sheep and goat milk, meat, wool, hide, hair, and mohair.
The importance and current status of small ruminant breeding in the world and in Türkiye. Breeds of sheep and goats. Reproduction in sheep and goats. Genetic improvement. Management, care, nutrition, and practical breeding practices in sheep and goat husbandry. Production of high-quality small ruminant products (milk, meat, wool, hair, mohair, and hide).
