Objectives of the Course

The objective of this course is to provide students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in reproductive physiology, endocrinology, reproductive biotechnology, artificial insemination, pregnancy, parturition, and postpartum management in farm animals. Students are expected to recognize the reproductive systems of different species (cattle, sheep, goats, buffalo, poultry, etc.), diagnose reproductive problems, and develop strategies to improve reproductive efficiency in herd management.

Course Content

Anatomy and physiology of reproductive systems in farm animals. Hormonal control mechanisms. Estrous cycle and fertilization. Artificial insemination and embryo transfer. Pregnancy, parturition, and lactation. Postpartum reproductive health. Factors affecting reproductive efficiency and herd management. Reproduction in poultry.

Name of Lecturer(s)
Learning Outcomes
1.Comprehend the anatomical structure and physiological functioning of the reproductive system in farm animals.
2.Describe the stages of the estrous cycle and hormonal control mechanisms.
3.Know the principles of artificial insemination and other reproductive biotechnologies.
4.Manage pregnancy diagnostic methods, the parturition process, and postpartum care.
5.Evaluate reproductive efficiency at the herd level and develop strategies to improve it.
