The aim of this course is to provide students with fundamental knowledge and skills related to the planning, design, and management of animal housing systems. The course focuses on housing types for different animal species, structural components, environmental control systems, hygiene and biosecurity practices, and housing design principles that promote animal welfare.
This course covers the planning and design of animal housing, site selection, structural characteristics of cattle, sheep, goat, and poultry housing, ventilation, lighting, climate control, feeding and watering systems, manure management, hygiene, biosecurity, animal welfare-oriented housing design, construction materials, automation applications, and sustainable housing systems.
