The aim of this course is to provide students with the fundamental principles and practices of herd health management, to introduce the factors affecting herd health such as preventive veterinary medicine, biosecurity, vaccination, nutrition, and herd recording systems, and to develop the knowledge and skills required for disease prevention, control, and improving productivity at the herd level.
This course covers the fundamental concepts of herd health management, preventive veterinary medicine, biosecurity measures, vaccination programs, the effects of nutrition and housing management on herd health, herd recording systems, the control of infectious and metabolic diseases, reproductive health, animal welfare, and herd performance evaluation. In addition, current approaches to herd health management and case studies are presented to improve students' ability to manage herd health at the population level.
