Objectives of the Course

The purpose of this course is to develop the English communication skills students will need in daily life and basic work environments. Rather than focusing on grammar, the course takes a communication-centered approach aimed at helping students develop the skills to introduce themselves, carry on everyday conversations, travel, shop, ask for and give directions, make phone calls, participate in job interviews, and communicate effectively in various social settings. Through real-life scenarios, role-playing activities, and speaking exercises, students are encouraged to use English with confidence.

Course Content

This course focuses on basic English speaking skills used in daily life and the workplace. The course will include activities such as introducing oneself, engaging in everyday conversations, meeting new people, communicating in restaurants and cafes, shopping, traveling, and dealing with hotels, airports, and transportation services, as well as phone and online conversations, communicating about health and in emergencies, job interviews, workplace communication, asking for and giving directions, and expressing everyday problems in English. The teaching process is structured around conversation-focused activities, pair and group work, role-playing exercises, and real-life scenarios.

Learning Outcomes
1.Identifies and uses basic English expressions and communication patterns used in daily life in appropriate contexts.
2.Can introduce themselves, meet new people and carry on everyday conversations in English.
3.Can communicate in English at a basic level in everyday situations such as restaurants, cafés, shopping, transport, accommodation and travel.
4.Can use appropriate English expressions in basic communication situations such as telephone calls, asking for and giving directions, asking for help and problem-solving.
5.Can express themselves in job interviews and basic work environments and engage in simple professional communication.
6.They can practise their English communication skills by taking part in role-play and speaking activities based on real-life scenarios.
7.They can develop their English communication skills by making use of basic digital language learning tools and online resources.
8.They build self-confidence when communicating in English and develop a positive attitude towards lifelong foreign language learning.
