Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to enable students to understand the processes of scientific knowledge production, the science-society relationship, and communication strategies for effectively conveying scientific knowledge to different target audiences. Students will gain fundamental knowledge and skills regarding the presentation of scientific content through media, social media, and corporate communication tools.

Course Content

Definition and scope of science communication, the relationship between science, technology and society, production and dissemination of scientific knowledge, scientific literacy, science journalism, science communication in traditional media, social media and digital science communication, ethical issues in science communication, combating misinformation and disinformation, science communication from a public relations perspective, planning science communication campaigns, application examples and case analyses.
