The purpose of this course is to introduce students to fundamental concepts related to science, technology, and artificial intelligence; to help them understand the impact of these fields on child development, learning processes, and educational practices; and to equip them with the skills to use technology and artificial intelligence tools in a mindful, safe, and appropriate manner when working with children.
Concepts of science, technology, and artificial intelligence; childhood and the digital age; the effects of technology on child development; digital content and educational technologies for children; the basic characteristics and applications of artificial intelligence; AI-supported applications in children’s education; planning science- and technology-based activities; digital citizenship, ethics, privacy, and security issues; the mindful use of technology and artificial intelligence when working with children. As part of the course, students will carry out practical projects aimed at developing technology- and AI-supported educational materials and activities for children. This content is appropriate for the level of the associate degree program in child development and focuses on the use of technology and artificial intelligence in the context of child development and education, without requiring technical software or programming knowledge.
