Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to help students develop their traditional journalism skills in the context of digital transformation by examining newsgathering and writing techniques in conjunction with artificial intelligence applications. The course aims to equip students with the ability to use artificial intelligence tools in news production, verification, content analysis, and presentation processes from an ethical and critical perspective.

Course Content

This course covers the basic elements of news, evaluation criteria, and writing techniques, as well as AI-assisted news production processes. The course covers data-driven journalism, AI-powered content creation, automated text generation, headline creation, interview simulations, fact-checking, combating disinformation, algorithmic news selection, and ethical issues. In addition, the processes of preparing press releases and producing news stories from press releases are examined through hands-on exercises using AI tools. While developing their skills in producing, editing, and presenting news in both traditional and digital media environments, students gain the ability to analyze the impact of AI on journalism.
