To teach the basic principles of food packaging, the properties of food packaging materials, the packaging methods used for different food groups, the factors influencing packaging selection, and advanced packaging technologies; and to equip students with the knowledge and skills to select the appropriate packaging material for a food product and to evaluate the effects of packaging on food quality, safety, and shelf life.
The objective of this course is to teach the principles of food packaging, packaging materials, and packaging technologies, and to prepare students to evaluate the impact of packaging—including the selection of appropriate packaging for different food products—on quality, safety, and shelf life.
