The aim of this course is to provide students with fundamental knowledge of organic cattle and small ruminant production, including national and international organic livestock regulations, housing, nutrition, breeding, health management, and animal welfare practices. The course also aims to equip students with the basic knowledge and skills required to plan and manage sustainable, environmentally friendly, and animal welfare-oriented organic livestock production systems.
Fundamental principles and regulations of organic livestock production; production systems for organic cattle and small ruminants; cattle, buffalo, sheep, and goat breeds; housing design, nutrition, management, breeding, and herd management in organic farms; calf, lamb, and kid rearing; animal health, preventive medicine, biosecurity, and animal welfare practices; pasture management; production of organic livestock products; record keeping, certification procedures, and sustainable management of organic cattle and small ruminant farming systems.
