The aim of this course is to enable the student to learn theoretical knowledge of planning of recreational areas in urban settlements through comparing the examples in Turkey with others in developed countries, developing spatial strategies and design options for either entire urban landscape or strategically significant tract of it in terms of supplying ecological, socio-cultural and economic improvement to urban geography.
Introduction of urban design and its interisciplinary nature, urban design strategies, urban design examples across the globe, recreation requirement and chance, recreational activity and its characteristics, recreational areas and their typology, planning principles of urban recreational areas, examples of urban recreational areas all over the world, planning principles of hobby gardens, parks, botanical gardens, garden exhibitions, cemeteries and other urban recreational areas.
