Objectives of the Course

To provide students with basic knowledge about the definition, scope, classification, uses, and economic importance of ornamental plants; and to introduce the main plant groups used in the field of Landscape and Ornamental Plant Cultivation, thereby establishing a basic foundation for vocational courses.

Course Content

The content of the course includes the definition, scope, and classification of ornamental plants; production areas, production quantities, and economic importance of the ornamental plants sector in Türkiye and worldwide; major ornamental plant groups such as indoor plants, outdoor plants, cut flowers, bulbous and tuberous plants, seasonal flowers, shrubs, trees, and groundcover plants; the uses of ornamental plants in landscape design; and basic concepts related to production and maintenance processes.
