Objectives of the Course

To provide students with basic knowledge about the definition, classification, ecological requirements, propagation, uses, and maintenance principles of outdoor ornamental plants; and to develop their ability to evaluate appropriate plant selection, propagation, planting, irrigation, fertilization, pruning, and basic maintenance practices in landscape applications.

Course Content

The content of the course includes the definition, scope, and classification of outdoor ornamental plants; outdoor trees, small trees, shrubs, twining and climbing plants; climatic, soil, light, water, and nutrient requirements of outdoor plants; basic propagation methods such as seed propagation, cuttings, layering, division, grafting, and tissue culture; principles of use in landscape design; planting, irrigation, fertilization, pruning, and basic maintenance practices; and common cultivation problems encountered in outdoor ornamental plants.
