Objectives of the Course

To provide students with basic knowledge about the definition, uses, ecological requirements, turfgrass species, establishment, and maintenance practices of turf areas; and to develop their ability to evaluate appropriate turfgrass species selection, soil preparation, seeding or sodding, irrigation, fertilization, mowing, aeration, weed control, and maintenance problems in landscape applications.

Course Content

The content of the course includes the definition, functions, and landscape importance of turf areas; cool-season and warm-season turfgrass species; site selection, soil preparation, drainage, grading, seeding, and sodding methods in turfgrass establishment; irrigation, fertilization, mowing, aeration, topdressing, overseeding, and renovation practices; identification of weeds, diseases, pests, and physiological disorders in turf areas; and sustainable maintenance planning.
