Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the fundamental concepts of landscape design, the design process, and design elements and principles. The course aims to enable students to evaluate plant and structural materials together with user requirements and to comprehend functional, aesthetic, and sustainable approaches to landscape design. It also aims to develop students’ abilities to analyze different landscape applications, interpret design decisions, and generate basic design proposals.

Course Content

This course covers the fundamental concepts of landscape design, the design process, design elements and principles, spatial organization, user requirements, and the use of plant and structural materials in design. In addition, design principles related to various landscape applications, including residential gardens, public open spaces, playgrounds, and recreational areas, are examined through case studies. The course also includes planting design applications, evaluation of successful landscape design examples, and basic design exercises aimed at developing students’ design skills.
