Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to teach the students to make the various surveying studies by measuring the implementation fields and the production applications of the elements used in the structural and botanic landscape applications.

Course Content

In landscape architecture, land surveying, on-site implementation of landscape projects, measurement and application tools and equipment, and case studies are carried out.

Learning Outcomes
1.Being able to understand and recognize the techniques of measuring and preparing land surveys used in landscape architecture studies.
2.Being able to understand the production details and substitution processes of the various botanic applications made in the frame of landscape implementations.
3.Being able to understand the production details and substitution processes of the various structural applications made in the frame of landscape implementations.
4.It recognizes, calibrates, and actively uses traditional (tape measure, surveying rod, level, leveling tool) and modern/digital (total station, laser meter, GPS, drone) surveying tools used in land measurements.
5.It reads contour lines (isohips), creates land cross-sections, and performs pre-design leveling calculations (red/black elevation).

Introduction to the tools and equipments used in surveying studies.

Teaching the preparation phase for the surveying studies.
Week 5 - Theoretical
Teaching the variations of the surveying studies and examples within the context of the preparation process.
Week 6 - Theoretical
An example study of surveying.
Week 7 - Theoretical

Week 8 - Theoretical
Transferring the measurements taken from the sample area on the paper. Midterm exam.
