Objectives of the Course

The objective of this course is to provide students with fundamental knowledge and skills concerning the structure, operating principles, areas of use, selection, maintenance, and safe operation of machinery and equipment used in landscape applications.

Course Content

This course covers the fundamental principles of landscape mechanization, engines and power sources, and the machinery and equipment used in soil tillage, site preparation, sowing, planting, turfgrass establishment and maintenance, pruning, fertilization, spraying, transportation, and cleaning operations. Machinery maintenance, occupational health and safety, and cost factors are also examined.

1.Explains the fundamental concepts and application areas of landscape mechanization.
2.Classifies the machinery and equipment used in landscape applications.
3.Selects appropriate machinery and equipment for soil tillage, sowing, planting, turfgrass establishment, and maintenance operations.
4.Applies the basic principles of maintenance and safe operation of landscape machinery.
5.Evaluates the use of machinery in landscape operations in terms of efficiency, cost, and occupational safety.
