Objectives of the Course

With this course the student; The aim of this course is to teach the working systems of computer controlled manufacturing machines, G-M codes, CAM programs and two-dimensional, three-dimensional drawings, CNC milling and turning tool is aimed to gain the ability to create tool paths.

Course Content

CNC Milling, Lathe scales, Sheet metal cutting and shaping machines, BDU concept, Introduction to BDU, Cutting tools, Inventory identification, Track reset and tool calibration, CNC Milling, turning and metal forming machine tools programming.

Learning Outcomes
1.The ability to create tool paths and program codes with CAM software for CNC milling machines.
2.Ability to create tool paths and program codes with CAM software for CNC lathes.
3.Programming of CNC sheet metal cutting machines.
4.Can make production using an additive manufacturing machine.
5.Have knowledge about computer aided manufacturing technologies in the world and can follow new developments.

Introduction of computer aided manufacturing methods and machines.
Week 2 - Theoretical
Working principles, elements and adjustment of CNC machines.
Week 3 - Theoretical
Programming codes and their use.
Week 4 - Practice
Introduction and setting of cutting tools, stock material identification, bench settings.
Week 5 - Practice
Surface milling.
Week 6 - Practice
Profile and channel milling.
Week 7 - Practice
Pool and relief milling.
Week 8 - Practice
Two-dimensional high-speed milling. (Midterm)
Week 9 - Practice
Multi-axis milling.
Week 10 - Practice
Introduction to CNC Turning, Introduction and setting of cutting tools, stock material identification, bench settings.

Rough and precise turning.

Screw opening.

Hole drilling, grooving.

Transfer the Autocad drawing to the sheet metal cutting machine with the extension .dxf and perform the cutting operation.
