Herbal and Animal Production Department is established with the aim of meeting the requirements of Agricultural Industry, in terms of the technical manpower which is situated between the labourer and the engineer. It is a two year vocational high school and it contains two main programmes named 'Organic Agriculture Programme' and 'Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Programme'.
History
Organic Agricultural Programme started providing education in 2012-2013 academic year within the body of Herbal and Animal Production Department.
Mission
To be able to train staff as people who embody the required knowledge and skills in Organic Agriculture Sector, who are open to innovation and improvement and who have sufficient practical experience.
To be able to train staff as people who embody sufficient cultural background, who are able to make decisions about their future and who have self confidence.
Vision
To be able to function as a school which is highly preferred by the students in Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Department. To be able to function as a school that have graduates who are favored by related sectors.
Purpose
To be able to train staff in public and private sector as people who aim at producing materials in accordance with the organic agriculture method and the processing, storing and controlling products via the protection of ecological balance and the production of all kinds of herbal and animal products, who are able to use the modern production techniques that do not harm agricultural environment and human health.
Physical Infrastructure
While the first service buildings of Koçarlı Vocational School were 3 prefabricated classroom blocks transferred the Faculty of Agriculture and contain 2 administrative service buildings, 15 classrooms, 1 computer laboratory and 10 other laboratories, in 2016, blocks (b and B1) were allocated to conduct educational services at the moment due to the expiration of the useful lives of these buildings.
As the B1 block has not yet been emptied from the allocated blocks, training services are carried out at B block. Covered area of trasferred blocks 8500 m2 and contain 7 classrooms, 1 computer laboratory, 1 microscope laboratory, 1 chemistry laboratory and 15 offices.
The student canteen and refectory and staff refectory in South Campus are using with Faculty of Agriculture. There is an application area of 2.500 m2 of the High School with 10.000 m2 open area. In the application area, there are two poultry areas with a size of 60 m2 and another area of 250 m2, a nethouse with an area of 50 m2, two nylon greenhouses with an area of 50 m2 and a polycarbon greenhouse with a closed area of 100 m2. There is also a beekeeping unit with 50 buckets. In addition, there is a sports field with a 500 m2 area including basketball, volleyball and tennis courts for sporting events.
Technical Infrastructure
The vocational school contains 67 computers, sixty computer deposits, one plotter, one laser numeric, one digital tablet, one netbook, one notebook, twelve printers, two scanners, two cameras, sixteen video projectors, one overhead projector, one slideshow maker , six laser pointers, one dvd device and one video camera.
