Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to teach the basic principles of irrigation methods used in agricultural production, to explain the advantages and disadvantages of different irrigation systems, to evaluate the factors affecting the selection of irrigation methods and to provide knowledge and skills for the effective use of water resources.

Course Content

Definition and importance of irrigation, soil-water-plant relationships, plant water consumption, determination of irrigation water need, surface irrigation methods, sprinkler irrigation systems, drip irrigation systems, micro irrigation techniques, planning, operation and maintenance of irrigation systems, irrigation efficiency, water saving practices, modern irrigation technologies and sustainable irrigation management.
