Objectives of the Course

In accordance with the principles and regulations of organic farming, this course focuses on the theoretical and practical teaching of plant pest identification, the determination of damage patterns, and the use of cultural, mechanical, biotechnical, and biological control methods as alternatives to synthetic chemicals. The aim is for students to acquire the skills to manage plant health in organic production areas by developing environmentally friendly and sustainable protection strategies.

Course Content

The course covers the identification of plant pests, the assessment of damage patterns, and alternative control methods that do not harm the agroecosystem, within the framework of the organic farming regulations. The core content of the course comprises the theoretical principles of cultural control measures, mechanical methods, biotechnical traps, biological control agents (predators, parasitoids, and entomopathogens), plant extracts, and permitted mineral compounds in organic farming, along with their practical application under laboratory and field conditions.
