The aim of this course is to teach the areas of use of ornamental plants in indoor spaces, outdoor spaces, potted plant use, cut flower use, and landscape arrangements. Within the scope of the course, students are expected to evaluate ornamental plants in terms of intended use, spatial characteristics, aesthetic value, ecological suitability, and maintenance requirements.
The course covers the definition, importance, and main areas of use of ornamental plants; the use characteristics of indoor and outdoor ornamental plants; and the principles of using potted ornamental plants, cut flowers, seasonal and perennial flowers, trees, shrubs, climbing plants, trailing plants, and groundcover plants. In addition, the course addresses the use of ornamental plants in residential gardens, balconies and terraces, parks, public green areas, road and median strip arrangements, ceremonial and event areas, and decorative arrangements.
