Objectives of the Course

The foundations of herbology lie in providing information on the biology of weeds, their relationship with environmental factors, weed control methods, general characteristics of herbicides, and their classification.

Course Content

The text begins by defining weeds and explaining their benefits, harms, biology, and ecology. Weeds are introduced, and methods for controlling them are taught. Information on the definition, classification, and application of herbicides is also provided.

Name of Lecturer(s)
Learning Outcomes
1.Explain the basic concepts of weed science, differences between wild plants and weeds, and taxonomic terminology.
2.Identify the generative and vegetative reproduction systems, seed physiology, and dormancy mechanisms of weeds.
3.Analyze the relationships of weeds with ecological environmental factors, population dynamics, and allelopathy interactions in agricultural ecosystems.
4.Evaluate the action mechanisms, classification of herbicides, and their selectivity roles across the plant-environment axis.
5.Plans cultural, mechanical, biological, and chemical weed control methods in production areas (landscaping, greenhouses, fields, gardens) in accordance with sustainability principles.
