Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to enable students to understand the relationship between nature and art from aesthetic, cultural, and environmental perspectives, and to introduce nature-inspired artistic approaches while encouraging the use of natural materials in creative design processes. The course aims to develop students' skills in nature observation, environmental awareness, and the integration of sustainability principles into artistic practices. Students are expected to create original artworks using natural and recyclable materials through both theoretical and practical activities.

Course Content

This course examines the relationship between nature and art through historical and contemporary examples. Nature-inspired art movements, environmental art, land art, ecological art, biomimicry, and sustainable art approaches are discussed. Students explore the use of natural materials in artistic production, nature observation, environmental awareness, and creative design processes. Practical art activities are carried out using leaves, branches, cones, stones, seeds, and other natural materials.

Nature-inspired art movements and artists; examination and evaluation of nature-themed artworks.

Nature observation and nature journaling; sketching plants, stones, and natural forms.

Composition creation and collage applications using leaves, flowers, and plant materials.
Week 5 - Theoretical & Practice
Herbarium art and botanical printing techniques; design practices using natural materials.
Week 6 - Theoretical & Practice
Natural dyes and pigments; extraction of colors from plants and practical applications.
