Objectives of the Course

The course aims to provide theoretical and practical knowledge about the fundamental concepts of seed technology and production and to enable students to gain competencies in seed biology, production techniques, quality standards, certification processes, and sustainable production approaches. In addition, the course aims to improve students’ skills in evaluating production processes, interpreting quality control practices, and solving professional problems.

Course Content

This course covers the concept of seed production, its historical development, and its importance in plant production. Seed production, trade, and variety development processes in Türkiye and worldwide are examined. Seed biology, physiology, classification, and production techniques are evaluated through applied examples. Production stages in self-pollinated and cross-pollinated plants are discussed in detail, while quality control, certification systems, and legal regulations are emphasized. In addition, sustainable production approaches, environmental impacts, and current developments in the seed sector are integrated into the course content.
