The aim of this course is to analyze medicinal and aromatic plants within traditional medicine systems through ethnobotanical approaches, cultural usage patterns, and historical texts. Students are expected to understand how plant-based knowledge is structured, classified, and transmitted across different societies. In addition, traditional knowledge systems are evaluated through a comparative and critical perspective in relation to modern scientific approaches.
This course examines the cultural and historical foundations of medicinal and aromatic plants used in traditional medicine systems. Within an ethnobotanical framework, the formation, transmission, and classification of plant-based knowledge are analyzed. Patterns of plant use described in traditional texts are evaluated in terms of internal and external application practices from a cultural perspective. Application approaches and usage forms are critically discussed through comparative analysis with modern scientific literature. Plant information systems are evaluated from a critical and analytical perspective.
