Objectives of the Course

The objective of this course is to provide students with the fundamental knowledge and skills regarding the planning, establishment, and sustainable management of leisure gardens; and to raise awareness about crop production, maintenance practices, and eco-friendly gardening approaches.

Course Content

Definition, development, and importance of leisure gardening; planning and site selection for leisure gardens; soil preparation and growing media; cultivation of vegetables, fruits, ornamental and aromatic plants; irrigation, fertilization, and maintenance practices; plant disease and pest management; composting; sustainable gardening practices and environmental contributions of leisure gardens.

Learning Outcomes
1.Explains the conceptual foundations, historical development, and social, economic, and environmental importance of leisure gardening.
2.Applies the basic principles of site selection, area planning, soil preparation, and growing media management in leisure gardens.
3.Conducts the cultivation, irrigation, fertilization, and general maintenance practices of vegetables, fruits, ornamental, and aromatic plants in leisure gardens.
4.Evaluates pest and disease management methods and sustainable, eco-friendly gardening approaches in leisure gardens.
5.Performs plant propagation practices using seed, cutting, layering, and grafting methods for the sustainability of crop production in leisure gardens.
