Objectives of the Course

The objective of this course is to introduce individual and institutional methods for combating addiction, enabling students to gain knowledge about the prevention, treatment, and support service access processes related to addiction. Within the scope of the course, students will identify organizations involved in combating addiction, analyze help-seeking processes, evaluate individual protection and prevention strategies, and develop awareness about the social impacts of addiction.

Course Content

This course focuses on the introduction of addiction types, the impacts of addiction on individuals and society, national and international strategies implemented in combating addiction, and public institutions, private organizations, and non-governmental organizations where help can be obtained. Additionally, the help-seeking behaviors of addicted individuals, referral processes for treatment, social support mechanisms, and individual protection strategies aimed at preventing the development of addiction are addressed within the scope of the course.
