Objectives of the Course

Multiparty basic qualities of life, the DP era, military coups, Coalitions and one-party rule, economic crises, Constitutions, elections, and social development issues to understand.

1.They explain the Ottoman political modernization process, spanning from the 19th century to the Republic, in terms of cause and effect.
2.They comparatively analyze the transformation in the political structure during the Tanzimat, the Second Constitutional Era, and the founding processes of the Republic.
3.They analyze the characteristics and transition dynamics of single-party and multi-party political systems.
4.They interpret the relationship between military interventions, democracy, and political crises in Turkey during the 1950–1980 period.
5.They analyze the impact of social movements and ideological currents on the political structure in Turkey.
6.They evaluate the historical development of Turkey's economic policies and their relationship to political processes.
7.They explain Westernization in Turkey, the EU accession process, civil society, and the role of women in political life from a holistic perspective.
