Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to enable students to understand the concept of volunteering, social responsibility, and active citizenship; to recognize the importance of volunteerism in individual and social development; to introduce volunteer activities carried out by public institutions, local governments, non-governmental organizations, and international organizations; and to develop students' skills in planning, implementing, and evaluating volunteer projects with ethical awareness and social sensitivity.

Course Content

This course covers the concepts of volunteering, social responsibility, active citizenship, ethical values, non-governmental organizations, volunteer practices in public institutions and local governments, disaster volunteering, environmental volunteering, volunteering in education and healthcare, volunteer activities for disadvantaged groups, digital volunteering, the relationship between volunteering and the Sustainable Development Goals, project development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of volunteer activities.

Learning Outcomes
1.Explain the concepts of volunteering, social responsibility, and active citizenship, and evaluate their importance for individual and social development.
2.Explain the ethical principles of volunteering, the rights and responsibilities of volunteers, and the roles of non-governmental organizations and public institutions.
3.Analyze volunteer practices in the fields of environment, education, healthcare, disaster management, and services for disadvantaged groups, and evaluate social needs.
4.Plan a feasible community engagement project to address an identified social problem.
5.Present and evaluate a community engagement project by applying effective communication and teamwork skills.
6.Evaluate the culture of volunteering within the framework of lifelong learning, ethical values, and sustainable development, and develop awareness of contributing to society.
