Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to provide students with basic knowledge and skills on the functioning of credit in the banking system, types of credit, credit creation process and credit risk management. At the end of the course, it is aimed that students will be able to evaluate basic credit activities in the banking sector by analyzing credit processes, credit markets and rating practices.

Course Content

In this course, banking and risk concepts, Turkish banking system, bank balance sheet and loan creation process, as well as the definition, elements, features and limits of loan are discussed. Additionally, factors affecting loan supply and demand, loan types, loan agreements, credit risk management and rating practices are examined.

2.It evaluates the credit creation process of banks and their impact on the financial system by analyzing the basic elements of the bank's balance sheet.
3.Explains the definition of credit, its elements, features, limits and factors affecting credit supply and demand.
4.Compares individual and commercial loan types; Interprets the loan allocation process, loan agreements and collateral practices
5.It conducts basic analyzes regarding credit assessment by explaining the basic methods used in credit risk management and rating processes.

Turkish Banking System: Structure of the Turkish banking system, regulatory institutions, types of banks and credit market
