The aim of this course is to provide students with fundamental knowledge and awareness of ethics, professional ethics, and ethical practices in healthcare services; to enable them to evaluate ethical issues in accordance with patient rights, informed consent, ethical principles, and healthcare legislation; and to develop ethical decision-making skills in professional practice.
This course covers the concepts of ethics and morality, profession and professional ethics, ethical principles in healthcare services, patient rights, healthcare legislation, informed consent, confidentiality and privacy, unethical behaviors, ethical issues and dilemmas, and ethical decision-making processes. Ethical situations encountered in emergency medical services are examined through case studies to enhance students’ ethical awareness and professional decision-making skills.
