Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to enable students to learn basic legal concepts and evaluate legal situations that may arise in real estate transactions within the framework of general legal knowledge.

Course Content

The course covers the concept of law, sources of law, branches of law, the concept of rights, law of persons, family law, property law, law of obligations, inheritance law, administrative law, and consumer law at a basic level.

Weekly Detailed Course Contents
Week 1 - Theoretical
Introduction to Law: The concept of law, social order, and the differences between legal rules and moral, religious, customary, and traditional rules are explained.
Week 2 - Theoretical
Sources of Law: Basic sources of law such as the constitution, statutes, presidential decrees, regulations, case law, and customary law are discussed.
Week 3 - Theoretical
Branches of Law: The distinction between public law and private law, and the main areas such as constitutional law, administrative law, criminal law, civil law, law of obligations, and commercial law are introduced.
Week 4 - Theoretical
The Concept and Types of Rights: Basic concepts such as rights, authority, responsibility, personal rights, real rights, claim rights, and property rights are explained.
Week 5 - Theoretical
Law of Persons: Natural persons, legal persons, legal capacity, capacity to act, domicile, and the capacity to be a party in real estate transactions are discussed.
Week 6 - Theoretical
Introduction to Family Law: Basic family law topics such as engagement, marriage, divorce, matrimonial property regimes, family residence, and their relation to real estate transactions are explained.
Week 7 - Theoretical
Evaluation of Basic Legal Concepts: Students’ knowledge of sources of law, branches of law, types of rights, and legal capacity is evaluated through case examples.
Week 8 - Theoretical
Property Law and Ownership Right: The distinction between movable and immovable property, ownership right, shared ownership, joint ownership, and limited real rights are discussed.
Week 9 - Theoretical
Introduction to the Law of Obligations: Basic topics such as obligation relationships, creditor, debtor, performance, liability, freedom of contract, and termination of obligations are explained.
Week 10 - Theoretical
Contracts and the Real Estate Sector: Sale contracts, lease agreements, agency contracts, brokerage/commission relationships, and contract security in real estate consultancy are examined.
Week 11 - Theoretical
Introduction to Inheritance Law: Legal heirs, inheritance shares, wills, transfer of inheritance, and transfer of real estate through inheritance are explained at a basic level.
Week 12 - Theoretical
Administrative Law and Public Procedures: The concept of administration, administrative acts, municipal decisions, permits, zoning procedures, and relations with public institutions are discussed.
Week 13 - Theoretical
Consumer Law, Professional Liability, and Disputes: Consumer rights, defective services, unfair terms, the liability of real estate agents, and dispute resolution methods are explained.
Week 14 - Theoretical
General Review and Real Estate-Oriented Legal Case Analysis: The semester topics are reviewed; a basic legal evaluation is carried out through a sample sale, lease, inheritance, or title deed dispute.
