The Home Patient Care Program is a two-year associate degree program that trains health care technicians capable of serving in essential care services for individuals requiring home care. The program aims to provide students with professional competence in basic medical knowledge, patient care, personal care, vital signs monitoring, patient transfer, hygiene, nutritional support, first aid, communication, ethics, and teamwork.The education and training process is supported by theoretical courses, laboratory practices, professional applications, and compulsory internships. Students develop their basic care skills practically under the supervision of faculty members in the Health Care Services Application Laboratory.
History
The Home Patient Care Program at Nazilli Vocational School of Health Services was established on September 12, 2013, within Aydın Adnan Menderes University, offering both daytime and evening education; it began admitting students in the 2013-2014 Academic Year. Since its inception, the program has been continuing its educational activities to train qualified intermediate staff in the field of home care services. Current student data indicates that the program fills its quota and that the student demand for the program remains strong.

The program quota has been maintained at 70 over the past two years, with 74 students enrolling in both years. Although there has been a limited decline in placement scores and success rankings in the current year compared to the previous year, the program has continued to fill its quota.

Purpose
Program Educational Objectives (PEO)
1. Our graduates carry out basic care practices in home care services safely, effectively, and in accordance with professional standards.
2. Our graduates contribute to the holistic care process by assessing the physical, psychosocial, and environmental needs of the patient and their family.
3. Our graduates communicate effectively in line with ethical principles and patient rights, and act with a sense of professional responsibility.
4. Our graduates integrate current knowledge and practices into the care process within home health services.
5. Our graduates contribute to the planning and execution of care services within a multidisciplinary team, in compliance with occupational health and safety principles.
Physical Infrastructure
The theoretical and practical training of the Home Patient Care Program is conducted using the lecture halls, conference hall, and Health Care Services Application Laboratory located in Block B of Sümer Classrooms, as well as the common areas within the campus.
Available Classrooms There are a total of 13 theoretical education areas in the Vocational School, consisting of 12 lecture halls and one conference hall. In the current course schedules, the capacity of the lecture halls is defined as 110 students, and the capacity of the conference hall is defined as 220 students. These areas are utilized for theoretical courses, seminars, meetings, and academic events. The practical training of the program is conducted in the Health Care Services Application Laboratory. The laboratory is arranged in a way that allows students to practice basic patient care skills under the supervision of a faculty member.
The educational area covers a total of 1,660 m² and includes 13 lecture halls in total: 12 halls with a capacity of 100–150 people and 1 hall with a capacity of 151–250 people
The Health Care Services Application Laboratory spans an area of 160 m² and accommodates a capacity of 55–60 students.
Our inventory of available equipment consists of: enema kits, oral care kits, suction pumps (aspirators), alternating pressure air mattresses, wheelchairs, walkers, ECG and patient monitors, protective drapes, gloves, feeding and medication administration devices, personal care products, wound care materials, colostomy appliances, thermometers, respiratory support equipment, and basic measurement/diagnostic tools. Within the laboratory setting, students perform core clinical practices including personal care, hygiene, positioning, patient transfer, mobilization, nutritional support, oral hygiene, wound management, elimination care, and the assessment of vital signs.The campus features various indoor and outdoor spaces designed for students' extracurricular social, cultural, athletic, and academic activities. Green spaces, walking paths, outdoor seating zones, social areas, sports facilities, the conference hall, the library, and study hubs are open for common student use. Furthermore, physical accessibility arrangements are in place to support students with special needs across all educational environments. The instructional facilities of the Vocational School are predominantly situated on a single floor and flat terrain; systematic modifications are continuously implemented to ensure seamless access to building entrances, classrooms, laboratories, and administrative sections.
Technical Infrastructure
The computer, projection device, internet access, Student Information System, ADÜZEM, the University’s electronic information resources, and the Vocational School’s official website are utilized in the educational processes of the Home Patient Care Program within classrooms and laboratories. Basic instructional technologies in classrooms, such as projection devices, computers, and whiteboards, enable theoretical courses to be supported by visual and digital materials. The availability of internet connectivity in some classrooms supports the use of digital course materials in the classroom environment. The care equipment and tools located in the Health Care Services Application Laboratory contribute to students developing their professional skills practically and performing basic home patient care practices in a safe learning environment.
