Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to teach the fundamental concepts, conceptual models, and approaches to health promotion in health literacy; to develop the ability to analyze cultural and social factors affecting health literacy; to highlight the importance of health literacy in light of research conducted worldwide and in Turkey; to develop competence in evaluating health literacy in the context of women, children, mental health, chronic diseases, and vulnerable groups; and to raise awareness about e-health applications and strategies for improving health literacy.

Course Content

This course covers the following topics: Health Literacy, Basic Concepts, Conceptual Model of Health Literacy, Health Promotion Models, Cultural Factors Affecting Health Literacy, Health Literacy Research in the World and in Turkey, Women's Health and Health Literacy, Child Health and Health Literacy, Mental Health and Health Literacy, Chronic Diseases and Health Literacy, Vulnerable Groups and Health Literacy, E-health Literacy, Health Promotion and Health Literacy, Importance of Health Literacy from a Public Health Perspective, and Improving Health Literacy.

4.It evaluates health literacy in the context of women, children, mental health, chronic diseases, and vulnerable groups.
5.It proposes strategies for improving health literacy from an e-health applications and public health perspective
