To enable Child Development associate degree students to comprehend the theoretical foundations of inclusion/integration education, which ensures that children with special needs receive education alongside their typically developing peers. Within the scope of this course, it is aimed for students to learn the historical development and legal legislation of inclusive education; to know the duties of the personnel involved in the process and the importance of teamwork; and to acquire, at a theoretical level, physical, social, and cognitive learning environments alongside activity adaptation strategies suitable for the developmental characteristics of inclusive students.
Definition, principles, and philosophical foundations of inclusive education; the historical development of inclusive education globally and in Türkiye; national and international legislation, laws, and regulations; roles of multidisciplinary personnel involved in the inclusion process and teamwork models; benefits of inclusive education for the child, family, teacher, and peers; developmental characteristics of inclusive students; educational assessment, placement, and IEP (Individualized Education Program) processes; types of schools implementing inclusion and institutional structures; fundamental components before and during the arrangement of physical and social learning environments suitable for the needs of students with special needs; and adaptation of preschool activities according to inclusive students alongside theoretical implementation principles.
