The aim of this course is to examine the political dimension of international economic relations and the impact of international politics on economic processes. The course analyzes international trade, finance, globalization, international institutions, development, energy, geoeconomics, and current global economic issues from a political economy perspective. The goal is to enable students to evaluate international economic developments within the framework of various theoretical approaches.
The development of the discipline of International Political Economy, fundamental theoretical approaches (Mercantilism, Liberalism, and Structuralism), globalization, the international trading system, multinational corporations, the international financial system, international economic organizations (IMF, World Bank, WTO), development and income inequality, regional economic integration, energy security, geoeconomics, economic sanctions, migration, climate change, and the digital economy.
