To enable students to acquire fundamental knowledge about how to apply basic economic concepts, principles and methods to the health sector and about particular areas related to health economics.
This course contains; Introduction to health economics,basic concepts and development of health economics,Definition of health expenditures, types, factors affecting health expenditures,Supply for health services,Factors affecting health services supply, price elasticity of supply,Demand for health care,Factors affecting demand in health care services, claiming price and income elasticity,Health financing: Purpose, significance and functions of health financing,equity,Efficiency in health institutions, Globalization and health economics,Healthcare financing systems,Healthcare financing systems,Role of government and private actors in the health care markets, Economic appraisal in health care,Evaluation of the course.
