The aim of this course is to examine how institutions, brands, NGOs, public actors, and individuals generate social benefit in digital environments by addressing the concept of social responsibility within the context of new media and communication studies. The course will cover corporate social responsibility, sustainability communication, digital activism, social benefit campaigns, online communities, stakeholder communication, crisis and reputation management, ethical responsibility, inclusivity, accessibility, and the societal impact of platforms. The goal is for students to be able to critically analyze social responsibility campaigns in new media environments and develop communication strategies focused on social benefit.
The concept of social responsibility, corporate social responsibility, sustainability communication, the relationship between new media and social benefit, digital activism, social media campaigns, civil society communication, brand activism, stakeholder communication, online communities, digital volunteering, social responsibility in crisis and disaster communication, social benefit-oriented content production, ethical communication, digital privacy, inclusivity, accessibility, combating disinformation, platform responsibility, and the analysis of social responsibility campaigns in new media environments.
