Objectives of the Course

The aim of this committee is for students to understand all aspects of the cell, the smallest structural and functional unit of the human body, which is a complex structure.

Learning Outcomes
1.Explains the structure of the cell membrane, membrane transport mechanisms, and its electrical properties.
2.Evaluates the structure and functions of cellular organelles.
3.Explains intracellular communication and mechanisms of intercellular junctions.
4.Explains the mechanisms of the cell cycle, cell division, and cell death.
5.Evaluates the clinical significance of intracellular and extracellular fluid and electrolyte balance.
6.Explains the structure and functions of proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids.
7.Evaluates the roles of vitamins and minerals in metabolism.
8.Explains electrical phenomena in cells and the generation of biopotentials, and relates them to their clinical applications.
9.Performs basic laboratory procedures and interprets microscopic findings.
10.Explains the biological effects of radiation and methods of radiation protection.
11.Understands the role of biostatistics in medicine and health sciences; explains and applies, at a basic level, how health data are collected, classified, and entered into computer systems.
