The aim of this committee is for students to understand all aspects of the cell, the smallest structural and functional unit of the human body, which is a complex structure.

| 2. | Evaluates the structure and functions of cellular organelles. |
| 3. | Explains intracellular communication and mechanisms of intercellular junctions. |
| 4. | Explains the mechanisms of the cell cycle, cell division, and cell death. |
| 5. | Evaluates the clinical significance of intracellular and extracellular fluid and electrolyte balance. |
| 6. | Explains the structure and functions of proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids. |
| 7. | Evaluates the roles of vitamins and minerals in metabolism. |
| 8. | Explains electrical phenomena in cells and the generation of biopotentials, and relates them to their clinical applications. |
| 9. | Performs basic laboratory procedures and interprets microscopic findings. |
| 10. | Explains the biological effects of radiation and methods of radiation protection. |
| 11. | Understands the role of biostatistics in medicine and health sciences; explains and applies, at a basic level, how health data are collected, classified, and entered into computer systems. |
