Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to enable prospective teachers to understand the characteristics of foreign language learning in primary school children, to become familiar with current approaches, methods, and techniques used in foreign language teaching, and to plan and implement effective foreign language teaching activities at the primary school level. Furthermore, it aims to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of prospective teachers towards teaching foreign languages ??to children through games, drama, stories, songs, technology-supported applications, and communicative activities.

Course Content

The cognitive, affective, and language development characteristics of primary school students; the fundamental principles of early foreign language teaching; current approaches and methods used in foreign language teaching; Communicative Language Teaching, Task-Based Learning, Natural Approach, Total Physical Response, Lexical Approach, Affective Filter Theory; play-based and multisensory learning applications; the use of songs, stories, dramas, and activities in foreign language teaching; lesson planning, material development, microteaching applications, and evaluation processes for foreign language teaching at the primary school level.

2.This section compares fundamental theories, approaches, and methods related to teaching foreign languages ??at an early age.
3.It uses approaches such as Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), Task-Based Language Teaching (TBL), Natural Approach, and Physical Response Method (TPR) in a way that is suitable for primary school-level teaching processes.
4.It prepares foreign language teaching activities and lesson plans for primary school students.
5.It uses games, stories, songs, drama, and multisensory activities in foreign language teaching.
6.It selects, develops, and evaluates teaching materials and digital tools that can be used in foreign language teaching.
7.It plans and implements measurement and evaluation practices for foreign language teaching at the primary school level.
8.It presents and evaluates its foreign language teaching practices through micro-teaching activities.
