The aim of this course is to enable prospective teachers to understand the fundamental philosophy, structure, components, and functioning of the primary school curriculum. Within the scope of the course, students are expected to be able to examine curricula in terms of aims, content, learning-teaching processes, and assessment; to evaluate curricula from a critical perspective; and to analyze current curriculum development approaches and primary school curricula prepared within the framework of the Turkish Century Education Model.
The concepts of curriculum and teaching program; the curriculum development process and basic curriculum development approaches; the elements of a curriculum (aims, content, learning-teaching process, and assessment); the philosophical, psychological, social, and economic foundations of curricula; the development of primary school curricula in Türkiye from the Republican era to the present; examination of current primary school curricula and the Turkish Century Education Model; analysis of the curricula for Turkish, Mathematics, Life Skills, Science, and Social Studies; intercurricular linking, skill-based approach, values ??education, and assessment practices; applications for the implementation, evaluation, and development of curricula.
